It's a large flagship school with everything that entails. I enjoyed my 4 years here and all of the opportunities it afforded, but being in an enormous ecosystem like UMN means it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle. You want to make friends, go join clubs that look interesting. If you want good food, go to Bahn Appetite on 14th Ave.

Had a great college experience here, make sure to get as much use out of the facilities, clubs and other opportunities as possible if you choose here as well. This school excels in being able to provide for you outside of the classroom compared to other options in the state.

Overall the U is a great school. However, the dining halls suck and the big city atmosphere isn't as safe as for example a community college. There is only one club students go to, and its far away and unsafe. On the other hand, the bar life is great!

Honestly, one of the best locations for a University in the country. Being in the middle of a city opens up so many networking and internship opportunities. The food is actually pretty good, especially coming out of high school and that crap. A little lower on safety compared to other universities due to being in a city and all.

Minnesota will absolutely give back what you put in. There are some incredible professors in the Soc / Pol Sci departments. I was happy with the plethora of course selection. Admin was helpful. My advice to making the most of the U: Join groups. I found community in marching / pep band. My extracurriculars are what elevated my experience.

Great location if you want to be in a city but not in the middle of downtown (I gave 4/5 on location because cold). Lots of activities within walking distance, pretty good public transportation. School spirit is high, but so is rent and tuition. Highly recommend taking the bus over to the St. Paul campus for a completely different experience.

The professors here are great (for the most part). The buildings are a mix of being very old and newly renovated. The food is decent when it comes to dining hall food. The location is fantastic when it comes to job opportunities and stuff to do. However, Minneapolis is not the safest city, and the areas around the University are not great.

Great school, the only issue is the crime rate. That's what you get in Minneapolis though :/

Respectful students, nice employees, and a pool of grade-A professors. The U puts in effort to make every person feel included (diversity is great here). It's an honor. You might be intimidated off campus if you're from the Midwest suburbs, but locals are generally nice. Theft is more problematic here, not violence. Just don't be out late alone.

Overall, an amazing school. Being in the twin cities does cause some safety concerns but I've never had any issues.

I'm a transfer student in a medical school program. The professors that teach in specific, upperclassman programs are amazing. They care and make sure you actually learn. There are a few food options on campus but the lines are always so long since there aren't many options. The studying spaces are great. Let's see how winter goes.

I lived within 2 cities with the highest crime rates in America. I was very surprised when I was accepted into the University of Minnesota and I would get semi-frequent notifications about assaults and robberies near and within the campus. I often feel on edge when I go outside after 6:00PM and I do often feel unsafe when I am near the Stadium.

Every other week theres some sort of violent assault on campus property. Not being from the cities I was really surprised by the amount of diversity there is on and off campus too. Not bad but scary.
